Jeannie made a comment in another thread I'm interested in discussing, but I figured not threadjacking (further) would be good...besides, I put it here so we can discuss any book's covers... Yes, there was that little incident. I can "suggest" or "request" small changes, but the way the cover art has worked is like this: 1. I write the book 2. Editor gives artist thumbnail description of main character & plot. 3. Artist works his magic. 4. I fall in love with cover. And, coincidentally, my cover artist, Don Sipley, also created the art for the last two Jocelynn Drake's Dark Days series covers. Interesting...I've noticed that Urban Fantasy covers tend to be much more abstract in this manner, it deals with the main character and maybe their love interest but little else... Sci-fi and Fantasy, however, much more often seem to have a vinget from somewhere in the book however...I wonder why the genres seem to have the different styles? Another question to ponder, what is your favorite cover, and what is your favorite cover art? These can be quite different things...for example, my favorite cover art would have to be Scent of Shadows...actually I love the cover all around, but a lot of people might appreciate the art but dislike the amount of text on it...

Favorite cover: (naturally.... ;D) Favorite cover art: I've been a fan of Larry Elmore for over 20 years. He's a freakin' god.
