Bekka Black -- iDrakulaI interviewed Bekka for The Big Thrill. She's written a modern interpretation of Bram Stoker's Dracula using text messages, websites, and emails. The paperback is available through Amazon, but it's also going to be released as an app exclusively for the iPhone with bonus voice mails and some interactive stuff. Check it out. I read the entire book last night and my review is on the Amazon page.

Besides the usual suspects, all of which we know and love, I totally recommend this amazing trilogy by Jeanne Kalogridis, Diaries of the Family Dracul. The first is Covenant with the Vampire, the second is Children of the Vampire and the third is Lord of the Vampires. They're scary, disturbing and incredibly gripping. This series is a prequel to the original Dracula, and is written in diary format, just like the original. It follows Dracula's great-nephew, who has been charged to move into the estate to care for his elderly uncle. Naturally, strange and terrifying things take place. Be warned- there are disturbing scenes in these books. NOT for the faint of heart. He is Vlad the Impaler, after all. But they are darkly entertaining books. Very creative and well written. A must-read for any fan of REAL vamps. (No sparkling included.) There will be lots of blood. I borrowed this series from the library and then bought it because I knew it was something I'd want for my personal collection.

Thanks, Ravie! I've heard of this trilogy but haven't read it. Will have to add it to the Ever-Expanding To Be Read pile.
