Nine times out of ten, something happens at work that makes me question exactly which direction humans are traveling in the evolutionary chain. Today was the one out of ten that made me smile. For those that aren't aware, I manage a RadioShack in a small town in the hills of Pennsylvania. Today two little old ladies came in. They were exactly what you'd imagine: blue-white hair, about 4 1/2 feet tall, orthopedic shoes and I think one of them was buying hearing aid batteries. While my employee was helping her, I was making conversation with the other. She heard the music playing in the store (Bohemian Rhapsody was on, the melodic instrumental part). She looked up, around, then asked me, "Is that on some tape somewhere?" I explained it was Sirius satellite radio. At this point, her friend was finished buying her batteries and they started out the door. The lady I had been talking to turned to her friend and said, "I just love Queen! Love them!" So thank you, little old lady for making me smile and feeling a little ashamed for stereotyping. Rock On!

Oh Holy Hell, you guys. The in-laws are here visiting and I spend all day clenching my jaw and gritting my teeth. They're nice, intelligent people. I've known them for 25 years, but their little idiosyncrasies are driving me up the flippin' wall! Here's a sample: They pronounce it "Wal-marK". Every time. The letters are twelve feet tall on the building. There. Is. No. K. The casual, khaki pants worn by men are called "Dockrees". Every time. Apparently, the most common coffee liqueur has a 'B' in it: "KahluBa". We've owned my cat, Bela for 17 years. HE is a male. They've known HIM the entire time and insist on calling him a HER.
Help me.

Some people insist on calling Kirby a "her" too. (And he is such a manly dog, too!) I feel your pain. My girlfriend's mother always says "The-A-ter" which drives her nuts, so you are not alone. Try upping your daily jello shot allowance!!
Love,
Skitteh!
